Alma Wilford Richards (Parowan (Utah), 20 February 1890 — Long Beachapril 3, 1963) was an American high jumper.

Career[Edit][]

When Richards simply about 6 feet (1.83 m) back jump, basketball trainer decided to raise money for him to participate in the Olympic trials. He won at the Stockholm Olympics in 1912 the gold medal with a leap of 1.93 m, a height which he never had before been vanquished, for the German Hans Liesche (Silver; 1.91) and his compatriot George Horine (bronze; 1.89).

Alma Richards graduated in 1917 from Cornell University, where he was also a member of the Quill and Dagger society.
