"Another Saturday Night" is the title of a 1963 hit single by Sam Cooke from the album Ain't That Good News. It reached number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and was number one on the R&B chart for a single week.[1] In the UK, the song peaked at number 23 on the UK Singles Chart.[2]

Session drummer Hal Blaine played on this version of the song.[3]

In 1974, the Cat Stevens version of the song reached number one in Canada on the RPM national singles chart twice, on September 28 and October 19, separated by two other number ones.[4][5]

Notable covers, remixes and samples[edit]Edit

  • In 1974, Cat Stevens recorded a version of the song which peaked at number six on the Hot 100, number one in Canada, and top 10 in Stevens' UK homeland.
  • Claude François recorded that song in French as La vie d'un homme (lit. "A man's life"). Notably, this is thanks to Cat Stevens having sung it, as Claude François also adapted Wild World(in 1971 as Fleur Sauvage; lit. "Wild Flower"), thus having a former business relation with Cat Stevens as well as an ear out for his musical hits.
  • In 1993, Jimmy Buffett covered and recorded the song. His version peaked at number 74 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.[6]
  • Sam & Dave recorded at least one version that appears on a couple albums released after their formative years such as the I Thank You compilation released in 2002 by the Brentwood Records label.[7]
  • In 2012, Andreas Weise covered and recorded the song. This will be Andreas first single from the upcoming album which will be released in August the same year.
