W. Axl Rose (February 6, 1962) is an American musician, known as the singer, songwriter and founder of the hard rock band Guns N ' Roses.

Rose was born in Lafayette, a small town in the Midwest State of Indiana. His father, William Rose, left the family when he was two years old. According to Rose, his father was murdered 20 years later; his body was found at a lake in 1984 in Chicago. His mother, Sharon, remarried shortly after the separation with Stephen Bailey, whose surname Rose from then on bore. Rose believed that Bailey until his 17th was his real father. His parents had two children, Stuart and Amy.
