Brian Robinson ( Mirfield , November 3 1930 ) is a former British cyclist . As an amateur, he took part on behalf of Britain at the Summer Olympics of 1952 in Helsinki .

In 1955 Robinson took professional meanwhile, participated in the Tour de France . Together with his teammate in the national team , Tony Hoar he was the first Briton who rode the Tour.In 1956, Robinson went over to the side of Charly Gaul . In 1958 he became the first Briton a tour stage, a few years later by stage wins and the overall victory in the Dauphine Libere .Robinson also won in 1959, his compatriot Tom Simpson for his team.
