Chris Lai (4 October1962) is a former Dutchathlete, who competed mainly in the pole vault. He was five times Dutch champion on this discipline and broke the Dutch recordseveral times. His last record dates back to 1986 with a height of 5.50 m. This record remained for eight years, until it was matched by Christian Tamminga, and it eventually broke and in 1995 to 5.51 tilde.
Chris Lake is currently professor of biochemistry at the University of Florida in Gainesville and gives polsstokhoogtraining as a volunteer to the women of the same University. On 4 July 2003 he could not resist the temptation and did again during a visit to Netherlands participated in the Dutch championship. With a jump of 4.60Amsterdam came in fifth place. The 40-year-old athlete was satisfied after his performance, especially near wanted to see how Rens Blom, Christian Tamminga and Laurens Looije demonstrated. He was speaking after the high jumping pole vault which he trains on the University: "They were keen that I competed in the NK. Well, it's not against cases. Fifth in a country with 15 million inhabitants, I can at they arrive.".
