He was born in Peer, a municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg. In 2008 overtook the then 16-year-old Standard Liege Marnick Vermijl away at Bocholter VV. Manchester United two years later took him away at the promises of Standard.
Vermijl became the second Belgian ever at Manchester United after Ritchie De Laet. He made his debut in a friendly match against the Irish Shamrock Rovers in which he immediately two goals. He played 24 Games In his first season at Manchester United's reserves. On 26 september 2012 Vermijl made his debut for the first team in theLeague Cup against Newcastle United. In the first half he made a better impression than in the second half, in which he was replaced in the 77th minute by another debutant Ryan Tunnicliffe. Manchester United won the match 2-1 in the end. On 2 april 2013 he sat in the contest selection in the FA Cup game against Chelsea. He was 90 minutes on the bench and saw his team lose 1-0 after a goal from Demba Ba. In 2013 he was champion with the promises and, he was elected as the second best player of the U21 team of Manchester United, the best was another Belgian namely Adnan Zoe.
