Nigel Melker (Rotterdam, 25 January 1991) is a Dutch racing driver. Anno 2013 he comes out for Tech 1 Racing in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series. The rider is supported by Mercedes, he has a five-year contract and hopes with their assistance in the Formula 1 .

Melker began his motorsport career in karting in 2001, where he won the Dutch Mini Junior Cup . In 2005 , he won the German Junior Kart Championship and finished as runner-up in the European ICA JuniorChampionship.
After he has no Championship was held in 2007 , Melker in 2008 stepped over to single-seaters. He competed in the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup for the team Van Amersfoort Racing. He finished in twelfth position with 120 points.  he also competed in ten races of the Italian Formula Renault Championship, where he finished 18th with 37 points in the standings. 
Melker took part In 2009 to both the northern European Cup and Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, both for the team MP Motorsport. He finished 18th in the Nordic Cup, which he picked up points in all six races in which he participated.  In the Eurocup, he took part in the first five rounds, in which he finished 23rd with a total of 5 points for a sixth place at Spa-Francorchamps. 
Following two less successful seasons in the Formula Renault 2.0 in collaboration with the management of Melker decided to in the winter of 2009 to a private test team. The goal; the level of the drivers from theformula 3 Euro series . A partnership with the company Traction Motorsport Engineering that as a management and engineering party for the Organization of the test team. Started with a Dallara F304 stepped the team soon after the Dallara F307, the current car in German Formula 3-field. Melker has many test kilometers made to prepare for the first GP3 Series season. 
The experience gained in the Formula 3 test team, was also used for an inscription during the 2010 Masters of Formula 3 . As a complete rookie knew the Dutchman a good first free practice, but with no competition in the formula 3 meters there was still room for improvement. A crash in the second free practice led to loss of valuable training time. Daphne managed to pull himself together and in the qualification from a field of 31 riders very handsome if 6th to qualify. Varying conditions during the race strategy wrong choices were made when slicks for rain bands were exchanged. On a strong quick drying course a rotterdammer fell back to 14th place. 
In 2011 Melker drove the full formula three Euroseries season for Mücke Motorsport. He finished the season as the fourth with four wins and 251 points, behind Roberto Merhi, Daniel Juncadella and Marco Wittmann.
In 2010, Melker became the first driver for team RSC Mücke Motorsport driving in the GP3.  his teammates his compatriot Renger van der Zande and the from the formula 2 come over German Tobias Hegewald. He started the season with the first pole position of his career in the first race in Barcelona.  however, he was involved in an accident in the first round and dropped out.  In the sprint race he started from last place and managed to finish 14th in the end.  In the following race at Istanbul Park he again earned pole position, but fell again back to place 23. He ended the season as 23rd with 5 points.
Melker In 2011 state again with RSC Mücke Motorsport at the start of the GP3. His teammates for 2011 are the Dane Michael Christensen and McLaren BRDC driver Luciano Bacheta In the first race at Istanbul Park, he won his first GP3 race. With quite a few podium finishes during the season, he eventually finished third in the Championship behind Valtteri Bottas and James Calado with 38 points.
After he competed in the GP2 Series final in 2011 for DA, Melker in 2012 a full season was allowed to participate in the GP2 Series for Ocean Racing Technology team in addition to Jon Lancaster and later Brendon Hartley and Víctor Guerin. With a best result of fourth place in the first race at Silverstone he finished nineteenth in the Championship with 25 points.
Melker drove one race weekend at Silverstone In 2012 in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series for the team Lotus next to Marco Sørensen. In his first race he finished right away if third behind Jules Bianchi and compatriotRobin Frijns. In the second race, however, he fell out. Eventually he finished nineteenth in the Championship with 15 points.
