René Binder (Innsbruck1 January 1992) is an Austrian race car driver.


Binder began his motorsport career in karting in 2002, where he remained until 2008 . [1together with others, he finished third in the German Junior Kart Championship in 2007 and finished second in the German Challenger Karting Championship in 2008.

In 2009 he started his career in single seater career in the ADAC Formel Masters for the team Team Abt Sportsline. While his teammate Daniel Abt won the Championship convincingly, ended the season in seventh place Binder with three podium finishes.

In 2010 , he switched to the German formula three championship for the team motopark Academy. He finished with a best result of third place on the twelfth place in the Championship.

In 2011 remained Binder driving in the German formula three, but now for the team Jo Zeller Racing. [2In the second race he achieved a podium finish with a third place. After the first race weekend, he was fourth in the Championship, but after seven weekends he dropped down to eighth place. Binder is also in a race weekend in the 2011 FIA Formula two championship on the Red Bull Ring in his home country.

In 2012 remained Binder riding in the German formula three, but he switched to the team Van Amersfoort Racing. With three wins, he finished sixth in the Championship. At the end of 2012 If Binder in the GP2 Seriesdebut for the team Venezuela GP Lazarus where he and team-mate Giancarlo Serenelli was replaced by Sergio Canamasas. His best finish was a 13th place in the second race at Monza.

In 2013 remains Binder in the GP2 drive for Lazarus.


His father Franz Binder was also a racing driver. He won the Austrian formula three kampioenschapin 1987.

His uncle Hans Binder in 1976 and 1977 made 13 starts in the Formula 1.
