Roy Edward Disney , KCSG ( Los Angeles , January 10 1930 - December 16 2009 ) was an American businessman. For years he was responsible for various administrative positions withinThe Walt Disney Company , which was founded by his father Roy Oliver Disney and his uncle Walt Disney . In 2009 he was still a major shareholder (the third largest) and he was since the end of 2005 a consultant for the company as "Director Emeritus." Besides, he was CEO of his own investment company Shamrock Holdings and one of the richest people in the world ($ 900 million in 2005 ).

He was best known for his far-reaching action to remove two former Disney executives: Ron Miller in 1984 and Michael Eisner in 2005 (along with business partner Stanley Gold ).

Roy E. Disney died on December 16, 2009. He was 79 years old and already fought long against cancer.
