Victor Fleming (Pasadena (California), 23 February 1889 - Cottonwood, ArizonaJanuary 6, 1949) was an American film director.

In 1919 he directed together with d. w. Griffith his first film. In the time of the silent film he made often action films whose Douglas Fairbanks played in many of those movies.

He made not only men movies. By his conducting Vivien Leigh won an Oscar within and Ingrid Bergman was nominated.

In 1932 he joined in 1939 MGM and got his breakthrough with the two films Gone with the Wind and The Wizard of Oz .

Just before his death lost its films to popularity. He died in 1949 of a heart attack.
