Yves Chauvin ( Menen ( Belgium ), October 10 1930 ) was a French chemist . He received the 2005 Nobel Prize for chemistry gotten together with the Americans Robert H. Grubbs andRichard R. Schrock for their work on the development of the metathesis method, which focuses on how chemical bonds of carbon are formed and break.
He is a member of the Académie des sciences .
At first he said he was not going to get the price. On His discovery he made 35 years earlier. He said he had just gotten the price due to the additional work of his American colleagues.Eventually he went to Stockholm and there received the prize from the hands of the King of Sweden on December 10, 2005.
