Zsolt Baumgartner ( Debrecen , January 1 1981 ) is a former Hungarian Formula 1 driver. He was the first Hungarian driver in Formula 1.

Baumgartner began his racing career in Formula Renault BARC Winter Championship. He drove a Tatuus RC98. He was sixth in the championship. After this he rode with Cram Competition in the European Formula Renault and German Formula Renault. In the German Formula Renault he won three of the four races he rode, but because he had no German racing license, he could not get points for the championship. In the European Formula Renault he was third, here he was Antonio Pizzonia and Gianmaria Bruni show for itself. He stepped into200 on the German Formula 3 . This was less of a success, Dallara took him to a thirteenth place in the championship. The following year he raced in this class, he was seventeenth in the championship, he got 20 points in 18 races. He also rode the last seven races of the Formula 3000 championship. He drove to the Prost Junior Team . In 2002 he went to Nordic Racing his Lola brought him to fifteenth place in the championship. In 2003 Baumgartner moved to Coloni , he was also a test driver for Jordan . He drove the first eight races, scoring six points. After this he was summoned by Jordan to Ralph Firman replace those injured during the German Grand Prix. He drove the Hungarian and Italian Grand Prix, he gained. No pointsThe following year Baumgartner went to Minardi , he was a teammate of Gianmaria Bruni . He took one point during the Grand Prix of the United States, which was one point higher than his teammate managed to amass. Then it was quiet around the Hungarian. In 2007 it became known that he official test and reserve driver was at Minardi Team USA in the Champ Carchampionship.
